Hot Wireless Telecom Companies To Buy Right Now

At risk of losing U.S. partnerships, Level 3 Communications (NYSE: LVLT  ) may soon strike a multimillion-dollar, three-year optical networking deal with Infinera (NASDAQ: INFN  ) or Ciena (NASDAQ: CIEN  ) .

While Level 3 seemed satisfied with Huawei's networking equipment for years, that all changed in the past few months. In March and in April, both President Obama and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) have made it harder for Huawei to operate in the U.S. It's only a matter of time until Level 3 -- and it's Huawei equipment -- finds it difficult to do business in the U.S.

Soon, Level 3 will probably go the way of AT&Tand Verizon and spurn Huawei's equipment. That leaves open a huge multimillion-dollar, multi-year deal wide open. The two companies likely to fill the void are U.S.-based Infinera or Ciena.

Top Industrial Conglomerate Stocks For 2014

Waters remain choppy for Carnival (NYSE: CCL  ) .

At a time when many consumer stocks are trading near their all-time highs, Carnival stock is trading closer to its 52-week low.

The world's leading cruise line operator has had some unfortunate mishaps on sailings at its Costa and namesake lines, and the market's penalizing Carnival for the setbacks. Analysts have been scaling back their projections, fearing that potential passengers will steer clear of the Carnival brand for their next cruise booking.

This is a dinner bell for Carnival's smaller rivals. Royal Caribbean (NYSE: RCL  ) is introducing its latest vessel -- Quantum of the Seas -- this week. Online chatter claims that Disney (NYSE: DIS  ) is about to expand its growing fleet by 50% when it announces two new ships later this month.(A Disney spokeswoman claims that new ships won't be announced at next week's media event, but there's clearly excitement about the cruise industry outside of Carnival.)

Other industrial stocks are also hitting the red: Siemens (NYSE: SI  ) , Europe's largest engineering firm, has seen its stock dip more than 4% this year. That wasn't helped after CEO Peter Loescher offered a pessimistic sentiment of his company's full-year profit a week ago, particularly as Siemens' margins trail other leading industrial conglomerates. With many leading economies still struggling for growth, it'll be tough for Siemens to outperform investor expectations -- particularly as Europe's crisis shows no signs of abating.

In January 2001, I bought the Siemens (SI) transmission product line and started doing manufacturing work. But then we had the dotcom bust and 9/11. A lot of my customers who sold long-distance merged, went bankrupt, or disappeared. I changed my business model several times, trying to diversify the business and customer base.

LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- Japanese stocks have ended with losses in every session this week, and sure enough, the Nikkei Average (JP:NIK) was down 0.6% in early Friday trade, though off an opening 0.8% defecit, while the Topix carried a 0.7% loss. Overnight losses for the U.S. and further strength in the yen (with the dollar falling to 楼101.28 from 楼101.56 a day earlier) helped drag the market lower, as did results from Fast Retailing Co. (JP:9983) (FRCOF) , the shares of which hold the heaviest weighting on Nikkei Average. Fast Retailing said that while its Uniqlo brand was doing great business, weakness for its J Brand luxury demin label helped send September-May profit down 4% and prompted another cut to Fast's full-year outlook. Consequently, its shares traded 0.7% lower, though rivals Takashimaya Co. (JP:8233) and J. Front Retailing Co. (JP:3086) (JFROF) also saw losses of 0.6% and 0.5%, respectively. LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- Japanese stocks rose as trading began Wednesday, with the Nikkei Stock Average (JP:NIK) climbing 1.7% to 15,234.83, a strong advance after four days of declines. Aiding the export-heavy market was a rise in the U.S. dollar against the yen above the 楼103 level as the yen's safe-haven appeal waned alongside worries about emerging markets. Among exporters, Honda Motor Co. (JP:7267) (HMC) and Toyota Motor Corp. (JP:7203) (TM) shares tacked on 2.4% and 1.5%, respectively, and Hitachi Ltd. (JP:6501) (HTHIF) shot higher by 4.8%. But shares of Advantest Corp. (JP:6857) (ADTTF) dropped 9.3% after the electronics maker widened its full-year forecast. It now expects a net loss of 35.9 billion yen ($347.19 million), compared with a previous forecast for a loss of 2.5 billion yen.

LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- Japanese stocks struggled early Thursday, keying off a weak close for Wall Street on investor concerns about a pullback in monetary stimulus. The Nikkei Stock Average (JP:NIK) shed 25 points, or 0.2%, to 15,889.77, and the broader Topix shed less than 0.1%. Yen strength on Wednesday left the Nikkei with its first loss in five sessions. Hot Cheap Stocks To Watch For 2014

PORTLAND, Ore. (TheStreet) -- In a world full of cheap accolades, myriad award shows and ubiquitous listicles, the superlative "best" has lost all meaning.

In the automotive world, it's almost completely subjective in areas where the metrics don't back it up. You can measure "best mileage" by how many miles the Environmental Protection Agency says your vehicle travels per gallon, but there are still plenty of variables both on U.S. roads and under the hood that can pitch that number in either direction. Best-selling vehicle? Are we including all vehicles in Ford's (F) F-Series of pickups, lumping the Chevrolet Silverado and its General Motors (GM)-built GMC Sierra doppelganger under the same umbrella and using all iterations of Toyota's (TM) Prius, or do we need to get even more specific?

Small cap nuclear fuel stock USEC Inc (NYSE: USU) is up some 300% this weekmeaning its worth taking a closer look at the company along with the performance potential uranium or nuclear stock peers Uranium Resources, Inc (NASDAQ: URRE), Denison Mines Corp (NYSEMKT: DNN), Ur-Energy Inc (NYSEMKT: URG) and Uranerz Energy Corp (NYSEMKT: URZ).

  • [By James E. Brumley]

You know, were it just Uranium Resources, Inc. (NASDAQ:URRE) or just Ur-Energy Inc. (NYSEMKT:URG) or just Uranerz Energy Corp. (NYSEMKT:URZ) making a decided bullish move, I might be able to dismiss it. Similarly, if URZ had only been moving higher for one or two days (or only URG or only URRE), it might be easy to not be impressed. Neither of those situations has been the actual case, however. All three stocks have been moving upward for several days now, quite a bit, on noticeably higher volume. There's something "going on", as it were, and if prior group-wide movements are any clue, it's the kind of move worth tapping into.

Well, I'll give myself an A for effort, but a C- for timing. But, I can bump that C- up to a B+ if my intuition is right as we head into the last few days of 2013 and the first few of 2014. What I'm talking about is a bullish commentary I penned back on November 26th regarding Uranerz Energy Corp. (NYSEMKT:URZ), Uranium Resources, Inc. (NASDAQ:URRE), and Ur-Energy Inc. (NYSEMKT:URG). All three stocks were perking up, and more than that, the buzz surrounding URG, URRE, and URZ was getting louder. More often than not, when the fervor and bullish action and chatter reaches the levels they had reached a month ago, an explosion is right around the corner.

  • [By Bryan Murphy]

If you listened to my bullish calls from December 27th and/or February 24th about Uranerz Energy Corp. (NYSEMKT:URZ), Uranium Resources, Inc. (NASDAQ:URRE), and Ur-Energy Inc. (NYSEMKT:URG), then congratulations - you're now up as much as 50%, depending on when you stepped into a trade, and which stock you chose. Now get out. See, as well as URZ and URG have done and are doing (URRE not so much), it looks like the short-term rally I first spotted a little more than a couple of months ago has fully run its course, and now these names are setting up a pullback.

Deutsche Bank announced on Wednesday that it has initiated coverage on Whole Foods Market (WFM).

Deutshe Bank assigned the natural foods supermarket’s a “Buy” rating, with a price target of $70.00. Analyst Karen Short noted, “WFM is the leading retailer in the high-growth natural/organic grocery industry. Aside from its dominance, WFM is taking share (and should continue to do so) because it is a best-in-class retailer with limited credible competition and as WFM continues to narrow the price gap through targeted priceinvestments, we believe share gains will accelerate. Concurrent with share gains, ROIC has significantly improved and should continue to do so. Given the strong correlation between ROIC trends and the share price, we expect WFM shares to move higher, along with ROIC.”

Whole Foods shares fell 0.29% during Wednesday’s session. Year-to-date, the stock is up 27.32%.

Top Integrated Utility Stocks To Watch Right Now

After taking early losses yesterday, Bank of America (NYSE: BAC  ) and its compatriots largely recovered by the end of the day. Markets are still down this morning, with the bank following suit at a 0.6% decline at 10 a.m. EDT. Though there may still be some concerns about the overall market and international economies, some news closer to home may help the bank rise later in trading.

A look around the sector
Bank of America isn't the only one seeing red this morning, as its closest competitors continue to struggle toward breakeven as well:

Citigroup (NYSE: C  ) lead the group down, with a 0.9% loss. JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM  ) was close in second at 0.88%. Wells Fargo was still faring better than the others, with a lesser 0.49% loss. The KBW Bank Index (DJINDICES: ^BKX  ) , a broader view of the banking sector, was down 0.69%.

International concerns
As we saw yesterday, the sudden drop in the Japanese markets took a toll on the banks early on, but they mostly recovered by the end of the day. Bank of America only derives 4% of its revenue from the Asian markets, so yesterday's news shouldn't have any long-term effects on the bank's performance. Likewise for JPMorgan, which gets 6% of its revenue from the region. The largest concern in the banking sector was for Citigroup, which produces 18%-20% of its revenue from Asian markets.

The Company competes with Finisar Corporation, JDS Uniphase Corporation, MRV Communications, Inc., NTT Electronics Corporation and Sumitomo Electric Device Innovations, Inc.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Anders Bylund]

Close competitor NeoPhotonics (NYSE: NPTN  ) soared 15% higher. Larger rival JDS Uniphase (NASDAQ: JDSU  ) jumped 7.9% to become the fastest gainer on the S&P 500. If Ciena can beat its own expectations in selling Internet backbone equipment to a bevy of major telecoms, its chief rivals must eventually follow suit. JDS is only one month removed from its latest quarterly report, which sent shares diving 7% overnight (but all was forgiven a week later). NeoPhotonics also reported in early May, but didn't make any waves then.

Getty Images/Bloomberg/Gianluca Colla Companies can make brilliant moves, but there are also times when things don't work out quite as planned. From a CEO busted for spying on a larger rival to a satellite television provider raising the bar, here's a rundown of the week's smartest moves and biggest blunders in the business world. DISH Network (DISH) -- Winner In a deal with bigger implications than you may initially think, Disney (DIS) is giving DISH Network rights to stream live and on-demand shows from ABC, Disney and ESPN. This is a truly mobile service, opening the door for DISH to begin offering a standalone Web-based service. A lot of bigger companies than DISH have tried to talk major networks and broadcasters into similar arrangements, only to be shot down. DISH succeeded because it had a bargaining chip in its ad-skipping Hopper DVR technology. DISH agreed that users of the streaming service wouldn't be able to zap through the commercials for newer Disney shows. Modell's Sporting Goods -- Loser Dick's Sporting Goods (DKS) is filing a complaint in a New Jersey court after it caught Mitchell Modell -- CEO of rival Modell's -- spying on it. The lawsuit claims that Modell posed as a Dick's executive to gain access to private areas and learn business techniques at Dick's. If the allegations hold up, Mode! ll's beha! vior was at the very least unethical, not to mention ironic -- a sporting goods chain's helmsman resorting to such unsportsmanlike conduct. Wouldn't it have been easier to just hire a Dick's executive? Zillow (Z) -- Winner Speaking of the right way to pry away information from a competitor, Zillow announced on Wednesday night that it was bringing on a key executive from Realtor.com parent Move (MOVE). A new position of chief industry development officer is being created for Errol Samuelson, who previously served as president of Realtor.com and Move's chief strategy officer. No, it's not a Trulia Inc. (NYSE:TRLA) or a Zillow Inc. (NASDAQ:Z). In fact, it's not even close to being a Zillow or a Trulia. Yet, for the time being anyway, Move Inc. (NASDAQ:MOVE) may be the best trade within the online real estate group right now.

Move (MOVE) operates an online network of Web sites for real estate search, finance and moving and home enthusiasts in North America. This stock closed up 2.6% at $14.96 in Monday's trading session.

    Monday's Volume: 879,000

    Three-Month Average Volume: 649,437

    Volume % Change: 50%

From a technical perspective, MOVE jumped notably higher here right above its 200-day moving average of $14.05 with above-average volume. This spike higher on Monday is starting to push shares of MOVE within range of triggering a major breakout trade. That trade will hit if MOVE manages to take out some key near-term overhead resistance levels at Monday's intraday high of $15.07 to $15.46 with high volume.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in MOVE as long as it's trending above its 200-day at $14.05 or above more near-term support at $13.50 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that's near or above 649,4! 37 shares! . If that breakout triggers soon, then MOVE will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $17 to $18, or even its 52-week high at $18.36.
